Going to a retirement home is only setting yourself up for misery in by books. Here you will be surrounded by people who are much older than you. Old age homes are fine if you cannot look after yourself anymore, but if you can still bath, shower, make food, do the shopping and drive a car or get on a bus, you do not belong in such an establishment. Seek out new opportunities and keep your nose to the ground. This is an exciting time of your life and you can be a special part of society if you want to. Being old does not spell death. It spells an new beginning onto a road less traveled for you. So what if you have the odd joint pain. See a doctor and get a pill.
